It would be great to be able to provision and configure OnApp VM infrastructure automatically with a configuration management system using the "Infrastructure as Code" paradigm.
The CM system getting most traction lately is Ansible (http://www.ansible.com/), which is more agile and suitable for DevOps scenarios in comparison to older monolithic alternatives like Chef and Puppet.
This was being made evident a couple of weeks ago when the open source leader Red Hat announced the acquisition of Ansible:
There's already modules for AWS, Rackspace, OpenStack and numerous other clouds:
The modules could include inventory, provisioning, firewall configuration, etc.
Of course it would be possible to write such modules ourselves against the OnApp API, but I think this feature would help all OnApp providers and users in the future.
