    I agree. The benefits are obvious to everyone. This should be done ASAP.

    Hi Charles,

    In the nearest versions, we’ll provide the ability to conveniently select between ext4 and ext3 disk filesystems.

    In my opinion you should make ext4 default, not just make it easier to choose between them. ext4 as default, please.

    Unfortunately, we can not make ext4 default as some of our templates only support ext3

    Isn't it an option to either update them or to just make ext4 default on all templates/images that does support it? I just saw today that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS runs ext3 default...

    Hi

    What I think we will be able to do is to use the ext4 by default (instead of ext3) while provisioning VM, if ext4 is available/enabled for template. 

    I've created a work item for this and it's been put into our backlog for future development when we have the time to do it. I can't give you an ETA for it but it's a good idea and we will do it.
