    Hi,

This is not currently planed, but a new feature Backup Plugin System that enables to integrate OnApp with a third-party service for backup management is available in OnApp 5.8 Release. Veeam Backup & replication is available in OnApp 5.9 Release.

The Backup Plugin System enables you to integrate OnApp with a third-party backup service. The plugin allows to back up and restore your virtual servers by means of a service that you use for backup management. OnApp provides the plugins for R1Soft Server Backup Manager and Veeam Backup & Replication that you can install to your Control Panel. You can also create your own plugin to integrate OnApp with a backup service of your choice.

You can find more details below.

We've been running custom scripts for years to force backups to be taken via dd rather than ntfsclone.  Using ntfsclone on an active filesystem snapshot just doesn't make any sense as you've noted.  You just get random failed tasks in the middle of the night.  Happy to share what we use if it helps.

I understand that the storage APIs are being made available to 3rd party backup software developers.  I haven't heard of any products becoming available yet though.

Veeam is now supported, but only for vmware environments?  So no support for those of us using OnApp storage and cloudboot hypervisors?  Wow, what a disappointment.

    Hi David,

Veeam doesn't support KVM or base XEN, but R1Soft does. Currently we are discussing the possibilities to integrate more backup plugins with other popular Backup Software vendors.

Besides our backup framework allows the possibility for our customers to create their own backup plugins. I will update once there are further details.
