Upgrading your Cloud for Onapp DRaaS
The DRaaS beta runs on specific sub-versions of OnApp CP and Storage. You must upgrade to these versions before DR can be enabled on your cloud. The upgrade process is just the same as for any other onapp upgrade. If you usually receive assistance from the upgrades team they will be happy to help you with this upgrade as well.
Updating the control panel
Here are the steps to install/upgrade a CP server to the DRaaS version:
1) first enable the DRaaS repository - create a file /etc/yum.repos.d/OnApp-draas.repo with following content:
name=RHEL/CentOS-$releasever - OnApp draas 3.5
2) install/upgrade CP server
:~ $ yum install onapp-cp-install
:~ $ cd /onapp/onapp-cp-install
:~ $ >./onapp-cp-install.sh
Updating OnApp Integrated storage
First make sure you have the correct .repo file as described in step 1) above. Then to install/upgrade the onappstore rpm:
:~ $ yum remove onapp-store-install
:~ $ yum install onapp-store-install
(Removing the old version is optional but will ensure there are no issues with the process). Once you have installed the new version you need to reboot the Hypervisor(s) to enable DR. You will also need to follow the rest of the instructions in the DR beta information pack.
The new OnApp storage Cloud Boot image runs with an updated kernel (2.6.32-431). This should work with no issues for most hypervisors. However there is a small chance you may find you need to update drivers or firmware. Possible symptoms of that will include storage devices not being found or network devices not loading properly. In virtually all cases this can be solved by using an earlyboot.sh script to load the correct drivers manually.
DRaaS sets up a tunnel to a remote replication site. This means any VMs you wish to enable for DR must be able to connect to a remote public IP. Sometimes your cloud may be set up to block external connectivity like this. We can provide you with a script that will modify your network settings to enable such connections by utilising your CP as a NAT, however you may prefer to do this yourself.
