How can I configure to use my own DNS domain URL?
Navigate to your OnApp CP and go to 'Settings > DNS Setup'. Each client is assigned with unique set of NS IPs and you may retrieve from the infoboxes on the page:
Kindly visit to your domain registrar and create the glue records as below for your desired domain (eg, myowndnsdomain.com)
- ns1: 69.168.228.xxx
- ns2: 69.168.229.xxx
- ns3: 69.168.230.xxx
- ns4: 69.168.231.xxx
Then, fill in your desired domain on DNS setup page. The system will validate whether the domain has delegated properly upon submission.
If the Glue Record is added correctly, the dig result will be as following: $ dig +trace +additional +noanswer <domain> <domain>. 86400 IN NS ns1.<domain>. <domain>. 86400 IN NS ns2.<domain>. <domain>. 86400 IN NS ns3.<domain>. <domain>. 86400 IN NS ns4.<domain>. ns1.<domain>. 86400 IN A 69.168.228.xxx ns2.<domain>. 86400 IN A 69.168.229.xxx ns3.<domain>. 86400 IN A 69.168.230.xxx ns4.<domain>. 86400 IN A 69.168.231.xxx
To add a glue record in your domain registrar, please refer to:
SOA record is compulsory too.
dig SOA [domain]
We strongly recommend you to use a new domain for this purpose, because you would not be able to add/edit the record of this domain after this domain is being used for your DNS service branding purpose.
