Issue
When trying to build a VM, it fails during the provisioning stage with this error:
[root@backup01 ~]# kpartx -s -p X -a /dev/onapp-poggicyy8nwkzm/qkeg4anouxd21l
device-mapper: resume ioctl on onapp--poggicyy8nwkzm-qkeg4anouxd21lX1 failed: Invalid argument
create/reload failed on onapp--poggicyy8nwkzm-qkeg4anouxd21lX1
From dmesg:
device-mapper: table: 253:9: dm-8 too small for target: start=2048, len=62908416, dev_size=41943040
Environment
Any OnApp
Linux VMs on KVM, Windows VMs on XEN / KVM
Resolution
Increase the size of the primary disk for the VM and then rebuild the machine again. There might be some trial and error involved in order to find the right disk size that works for you.
Cause
Generally, this means that the disk size you are trying to use is too small for the minimum requirement from the template to be met.
