Trying to increase resources on a Virtual Machine but it is failing with an error about insufficient resources.

This problem is generally caused by either the Hypervisor that the Virtual Machine is on not having enough resources available, or the client is exceeding the resources they have available to them within their billing plan.
First check the client's billing plan and confirm that the resource limits allow for the increase on the VM. Remember that if the client has more than one VM, then the resources for all of the VMs is added together and should be below the resource limit on the plan.
Second confirm that the Hypervisor has sufficient resources available for the change. Usually this is only for memory or data store space.
